Lorraine "Lorrie" Pauline Ranieri Peck passed away peacefully at the Beehive Saturday September 2, 2023, surrounded by family at the age of 87. Lorrie was born on November 11, 1935, to Romeo Ranieri and Mary Matteucci Ranieri, the only daughter with three brothers.
Lorrie, lifelong Black Eagle resident attended Collins Elementary, St Mary's, and Great Falls Central Catholic High School graduating in 1953. Lorrie worked for a realtor, and then for the Great Falls Tribune for about eight years with a second job at the 3-D restaurant, finishing her career at Borrie’s. Lorrie met the love of her life Delbert Peck bowling (a favorite pastime in her younger years) while he was home on leave with the Navy. They married on May 2, 1959, and the next year Lorrie gave birth to their first son Rory, with Rick, Randy, and Rodney to follow over the next four years.
She stayed active as the mother of four young boys volunteering with the PTA and as a room mother at Collins School. There were many cherished memories as the boys’ Cub Scout leader and helping with the Boy Scout Troop. A highlight of Scouts was the annual Boy Scout parade. Camping, backpacking and the cabin were all an integral part of Lorrie's family life. In the early 1970's the Black Eagle Volunteer Fire Department was reestablished. Before the fire station was built fire calls would come into the Peck house, Lorrie would go outside to sound the siren alerting all the volunteer firemen of a fire. Lorrie also was an active member of the Black Eagle Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary working on the Community Calendar, dances, and other various activities. The Blessed Sacrament Altar Society could count on Lorrie for one of her delicious salads, the orange tapioca, ambrosia, or crab for funerals or other events. Lorrie made her specialties for holidays which included raviolis (the family recipe), povitica, and the array of cookies she always shared with family, and friends. Family, friends, raffles, silent auctions, and the grandparents’ organization were recipients of the hundreds of blankets she made in her later years. A legacy of the love she shared with so many are her blankets. She was also known for her beautiful flowers and immaculate housekeeping.
In Lorrie’s later years, she discovered lattes which was her “treat” several times a week. This was a lady who could strike up a conversation with anyone. The most important part of Lorrie’s life were her husband, children, grandchildren, and other family members. She attended countless games and programs for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were everything to her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Del; son, Rodney; granddaughter, Jaylene; parents; brothers, Larry (Bobbi), Romeo “Boze;” in-laws, Julia and LeRoy Peck, Vernon and Velma Peck, Julie and Monte Berg, Mary Beth Peck, and Doris Peck.
