Agnes Ann Green

Agnes was the oldest of 8 children born to John C. and Eunice V. (Hanson) McLean.Her dad was in the Air Force so she attended many different schools during her educational career.During her high school years, Agnes helped take care of her mother and siblings,Julie (William) Clark of Breesport, NY, James (Lorraine) McLean of Walsenburg, CO, David McLean of St. Marie, MT, Walter McLean of St. Marie, MT, Donna (Robert) Druessel of Troy, IL, Lesley McLean (preceded in death), Mike (Rose) McLean of St. Marie, MT, and Robert McLean of St. Marie, MT, in Sand Coulee and attended summer classes to be able to proudly graduate with her High School Class in Centerville, MT.As an adult, she took an accounting class to better help her support her husband in their Black Eagle Sanitation business. On August 30, 1969, Agnes married Fredrick L. Green, Jr. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Great Falls, MT.Together they raised four children, Carol (James) Sturdivant of Great Falls, MT, Cari (Rex) Coldren of Vaughn, MT, Bruce (Melissa) Green of Clarksville, TN, and Lee Green of Black Eagle, MT.She also had two step-children,Andy (Debra) Green of Judsonia, AR and Paul (Maria) Green of Fayetteville, NC.One of the secrets that Fred and Agnes had during their 50 years of marriage was that Fred would ask Agnes every night, “What can I do to help you have an easier, more better life?”She didn’t work outside of the home because taking care of her husband and family were her top priority, as was being home to hear about their school day. Agnes was a devoted Christian.She attended the Great Falls Church of Christ with her husband.She was very active in their Life Group, in Ladies Bible Retreats, and Bible Studies.When her children were younger, she volunteered as their Brownie, Girl Scout, and 4-H leader for her two daughters and a Cub Scout leader for her sons.She was always supporting them in their concerts or sporting events. Agnes could be found doing a number of different things during her day, she read, crocheted baby or adult blankets, pillows, and other items for her friends and family, sewed different items such as clothing for her younger children, coats and vests for her nephews, and diaper bags that came in handy when anyone had a newborn baby. Agnes had 7 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, several uncles, 1 stepson, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandbabies.
