Albert Lee Olszewski passed away peacefully at his home in Great Falls, Montana, on July 1, 2023, at the age of 84. His passing ended a difficult battle with cancer. Dolores, his wife of 62 years, was by his side.
Albert was born on September 1, 1938, in Havre to John and Florence (Cichosz) Olszewski. He spent his early years on his family farm in Hogeland, Montana. In high school, he moved to Great Falls where he graduated from Great Falls Central Catholic High School in 1956. After high school he served in the United States Army. After his discharge, Albert met Dolores Medvec. They married on November 11, 1961.
Albert and Dolores made their home in Great Falls where they raised 7 children. Albert made his living as a gifted floor layer. He took pride in his work and was meticulous in his attention to detail. He was a hard-working family man who lived his life providing for his wife and children. Albert was happiest at home. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and tending to the yard and garden. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his four sons. As a life-long Catholic, his faith was his greatest consolation especially during his battle with cancer.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving family. His children include Al (Nancee) of Kalispell, Cindy (Wayne) Ellenbecker of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Jim of Snohomish, WA, Juliann (Glenn) Bliss of Great Falls, Kathy Brandt of Helena, and Chris (Holly) and Brad (Megan) all of Billings. He has 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His siblings are Jackie Kranz, Great Falls, John (Alice) of Gresham, OR, and Rosemary Lewis of Dallas, TX. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry and Ted; son-in-law, Thane Brandt; and his grandchildren, Gianna Bliss and Matthew Brandt.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sletten Cancer Institute, Dr. Martin and nurse, Sue provided exceptional care while Albert battled cancer.
