Albert J Schei

Albert John Schei, 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer on Thursday, November 27, 2014, just one day shy of his 59th birthday. At Albert’s request, no services are planned. His family would like to thank the wonderful team at Sletten Cancer Institute and Peace Hospice of Great Falls. Cremation has taken place in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home. Albert was the 6th of 8 children born to Clifford and Marvel (Meints) Schei in Adrian, MN on November 28th, 1955. He attended Adrian High School where he still holds the fastest pin time in his wrestling weight class. After high school, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Key West, FL. He married and later divorced Michelle (Streeter) Belcher, with whom he had 3 children (Jamas, Ezra, and Kaleena). He also married and later separated from Kerry Randall with whom he had 1 child (Cody). Albert moved to Great Falls in 1989 and back to Minnesota in 1999 to be closer to family. He worked as a Central Office Technician with Century Tel, now Century Link, in Fulda, MN for the last 15 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, softball, and trying his luck at casinos and pull-tabs. He moved back to Great Falls in August so he could be cared for and surrounded by his 3 (surviving) children and 4 grandchildren for the remainder of the limited time he knew he had left. He often said his 4 children were the “best thing he ever did” and he lit up seeing his grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Ezra (Angie) Schei, Kaleena (Philip) Carr and Cody Schei; granddaughters Rylee, Elliott, and Drew Schei and grandson, Louis Carr; all of Great Falls, MT. He is also survived by his siblings Ruddy (Carolyn) Schei of Elbow Lake, MN; Charlene (Alex) Stokes of Henderson, NV; Tony (Barb) Schei of Worthington, MN; and Ardes (Jerry) Gronewold of Worthington, MN; 17 cherished nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Marvel Schei; his son, Jamas Schei; brother, Daniel Schei; and sister, Susan Nelson.
