December 8, 1940 — April 21, 2017

Arthur Gordon Matteucci passed away on April 21, 2017 at Peace Hospice following a lengthy illness. He was born in Great Falls on December 8, 1940, to Peter and Helen (Erickson) Matteucci. Art graduated from Great Fall High School in 1959 and went on to earn degrees from Princeton University and University of Montana Law School. While working at the law firm of Swanberg, Koby and Swanberg he was employed part time in the Cascade County Attorney’s office for two years. He had his own firm (Matteucci and Falcon) for many years and was associated with the Law Office of Jardine, Stephenson at the time of his retirement in 2007. For two years following college Art served in the Army Reserve, stationed for a time a Fort Lewis, Washington. In 1969 he married Sandra Epperson and together they raised two sons, Jeff and Scott. Art and Sandi enjoyed many years of travel and often escaped winter at their homes in Texas or Arizona. Art was an avid golfer and played in many tournaments, including a junior national championship while in High School and he was a member of the Princeton University golf team. He was a past president of the Montana State Senior Golf Association and served on the City of Great Falls Park Board and the Great Falls Symphony Association. Art could often be found on the creek near his place at Monarch or on the river with his brother-in-law Hal pursuing his other passion – fishing. He is survived by his wife Sandi; sister Janet (Hal) Harper of Helena; son Scott of Midland Michigan; six grandchildren; an Aunt Pia Schermele; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffrey. Cremation has taken place and in accordance with Art’s wishes there will be no service. There will be a private family burial of ashes this summer at the Monarch cemetery. Memorials may be made to Peace Hospice of Montana, PO Box 7008, Great Falls, MT 59406-7008.
