Billy Dean Reed

Billy Dean Reed, 84, of Great Falls passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Peace Hospice Facility from cancer. For those who would like to honor Bill’s memory, funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2 pm at O’Connor Memorial Chapel located at 2425 8th Ave N, Great Falls. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home has been entrusted to handle the arrangements. Bill was born on May 4, 1930 in Centralia, IL. Bill and Barbara met in Cheltenham, England, fell in love and were united in marriage for 62 years. Bill was a true patriot and entered the United States Air Force on July 19, 1948. He retired in August of 1971 after dedicating 23 years of his life to his country. After moving back to Great Falls, he went to work for the United States Postal Service as a mail sorting clerk. He retired for the second time after dedicating 18 years to the USPS. While retired he enjoyed watching baseball and bowling at the Elks Club. He was an active member of the Elks Club for over 40 years and he enjoyed cookouts and camping with friends and family. His favorite baseball team was the Saint Louis Cardinals and his favorite hat was his red Saint Louis Cardinals ball cap. He enjoyed camping on weekends and holidays in Glacier National Park and on the Oregon and Washington Coasts. Bill was a private person who would give you the shirt off of his back or his last dollar, if he thought it would improve your life or situation. He was loved by all those who met him because of his outgoing easy to please personality. He never complained and was an inspiration to everyone in his family. He loved sports, being outside, and watching his grandson turn into a fine young man. He also enjoyed board games, spending time with his family, and an occasional Miller Genuine Draft. Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Reed; daughter Debra M. Weimer; grandson Heath A. Reed all of Great Falls; brother Jimmy Reed of Tuscola, IL; and beloved family members and supportive friends. Rejoice in God’s name, another Angle has been released into heaven!
