Calvin Duerr, 70, of Cascade, passed away January 17, 2018 of leukemia. A celebration of life is February 3, 2018 at 2:00 to 3:30 pm at the Driftwood Bar; and 3:30 to 5:00 pm at the Angus Bar in Cascade.Please come and share a favorite Calvin story. Calvin was born April 20, 1947 in Great Falls.He attended Cascade High School and MSU Bozeman.He served with the Air National Guard for six years. Calvin married Bonnie O’Neill on June 18, 1966.They had two sons, Rob and Jamie. Calvin had a special relationship with his father-in-law Howard O’Neill.Calvin was a son to Howard and Margaret.He and Bonnie were willing workers when needed, especially for any and all cow work. Calvin and Howard shared a love of hunting and fishing, and the stories that resulted were enjoyed by all. Calvin ranched his entire adult life, until the sale of the ranch to John Lane in 2003.Calvin was always Mr. Fix It, but retirement let him enjoy more of the good stuff; golf, gardening, wood working, reading and crossword puzzles. Calvin loved playing golf.His granddaughter Anna was one of his special partners.Both sons work at a golf course which shows the influence of Calvin’s enjoyment of the game. Calvin is going to be greatly missed.He and Bonnie were married for 50 years and they were practically inseparable.His sons depended on Calvin’s practical advice, willing help and ever present sense of humor.His annual Christmas letter will be missed. Calvin was preceded in death by his father, Herman when Calvin was six years old.His mother Jean died in 1994 and his sister Barbara Lasher in 2013. Calvin is survived by his wife Bonnie; sons Rob (Tammy) and Jamie (Cathy); granddaughter Anna Marie; cousins Dave (Marion) Stratton, Donna Martin and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
