Catherine M. Zeller, 93, of Great Falls passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Goldstone Assisted Living Facility. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at O’Connor Funeral Home. Funeral liturgy will take place on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Fort Shaw with burial to follow at the Sun River Cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Catherine was born on February 25, 1922 to John and Icie Zeller in Great Falls. She attended grade school in Sun River and was a graduate of Simms High School. She went on to graduate with her bachelor’s degree from the Great Falls College of Education. She began her teaching career at St. Peters Mission before moving on to teaching K – 8 in Sullivan Valley. She moved on to teach at the Sun River School for a time before teaching second grade at Libby and finally Choteau before retiring after 25 years to care for her ailing mother. Catherine was an active member of 4-H and had the pleasure of winning a trip to 4-H Congress in Chicago. She was also a member of St Ann’s Catholic Church in Fort Shaw. She traveled extensively in Montana and Canada and both the East and West Coasts. She traveled to New Zealand and even was able to take a cruise through the Panama Canal. She took great pride in her large garden and her beautiful yard. The thing that she loved most was taking walks to the river to see all the wildlife and scenery. Catherine is survived by her sister, Carrie Bergen of Dutton; sister-in-law Thelma Zeller of Great Falls; immediate nieces and nephews Riscilla Grimshaw, Laura Lee Harvey, Polly Carlstad, Dexter Bergen, and Nick Hensleigh. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ella Hensleigh; and brothers John and Presley Zeller. We would like to thank the staff at Cambridge Court and the Goldstone for their dedicated service.
