Charles Edward “Ed” Cornwall of Great Falls, MT passed away on March 11, 2016 at his home in Great Falls after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the O’Connor Funeral Home in Great Falls, MT. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m. and a luncheon will follow the service at Central Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at the Missoula City Cemetery in Missoula, MT on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Ed was born in Missoula MT on June 16, 1937 to Charles E. and Cora (Bacon) Cornwall. He graduated from Butte High in 1955. He was the oldest of four children. In 1958 he married Ellen Lucier in Lewistown, MT. They later divorced. Of this union there were five children: Brenda Vey Cornwall of Great Falls, Carla Ellen (Stephen) Toth of Billings, MT, Susan Marie (Michael) Nicosia of Columbia Falls, MT, Charles Edward Cornwall of Livingston, MT and Michael James Cornwall of Belfair, WA. Later he married Vonnie R. Thomas in Great Falls, MT on December 13, 1986. He worked for the Milwaukee Rail Road out of Lewistown, MT before moving to Great Falls where he worked for the Burlington Northern Rail Road before working for and retiring from Amtrak. Ed enjoyed collecting guns, books, pottery, scales and rail road memorabilia. He was a founding member of the Other Guys Cruisin’ Association Car Club, he was active in the Sun River Shooting Association and help coached the MRSA Junior Shooting Program. While he was healthy he enjoyed camping, hunting and riding his horses. He is survived by his wife; all of his children and his siblings and their families: Marie Pagliero of Butte, MT, Tom (Sharon) Cornwall of Lovell, WY, and David Cornwall of Anchorage, AK.; a stepdaughter Brenda Lewis of Great Falls; seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Gregory Emery, son-in-law Rick Shankle and brother-in-law Martin Pagliero.
