He was the 7th child of 10. When he was 12 years old, his brother Ernie (14), a family friend who was 13 and Charlie, drove 29 horses from Power to Kalispell, just two weeks before the rest of the family moved. He married the love of his life Loretta Knoll on November 10, 1943. In 1958, they moved their family to Highwood. All of their children grew up working with them at the sawmill. Charlies kids and most of his grandkids and some of his great grandkids attended Highwood School, where Charlie and Loretta cheered on almost every sporting event for well over 50 years. In the year 2011, they were named Super fans of the year, which he was very proud of. He loved gardening and entered vegetables at the county fair for over 50 years. Loretta and Charlie won the Super Gardener award one year. He lost the love of his life after 69 years of marriage in 2013. Some of his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, playing cards and attending all sporting events. His greatest love was his wife and family. He is survived by all of his children: Sandy (Bill) Zanto, Chuck (Carol) Kind, Renee (Arnold Jr.) Kotthoff, Darwin (Cheryl) Kind, Laurie (Larry) Baum, and Holly Willis; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren. All who knew him and his humor understand why he will be so greatly missed. Thank you, Dad, for always being there for us and being the loving foundation that we stand on today. We love and miss you, and look forward to our reunion in heaven. What a legacy you have left behind.
