Charles ‘Chuck’ P. Wieck, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls, MT surrounded by his seven children and two of his nine grandchildren. A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Ann’s Cathedral, 715 3rd Ave. North, Great Falls, MT. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the service begins. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Great Falls International Airport, 2800 Terminal Drive. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Charles was born in St. Louis Missouri on November 11, 1931 to Hilda and Leo J. Wieck. He attended Chaminade College Preparatory School in St. Louis, Portsmouth Abbey Preparatory School in Rhode Island and St. Catherine’s Grammar School in Saint Louis, MO. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in Texas and was stationed at George Air Force Base in Victorville, CA, 1952, where he was an airplane mechanic and lifeguard at the officers club. He married Virginia ‘Ginnie’ Hovious in 1955 and moved to Great Falls, MT the same year. Charles owned and operated Wieck Construction, Inc. since the early 60’s, where he built many homes in Great Falls. He also spent time as a construction estimator and project manager for Talcott Construction and Dick Olson Construction companies. He was an owner of Smith’s Place in East Helena, MT that still exists today and CJ Casino in Butte. He spent his free time in Montana’s beautiful outdoors, hunting and fishing with his four sons and his best friends, Jock Warden and Dr. Robert Casey, and camping with his children at Alice Creek. He was an avid bird watcher and had numerous hobbies including tinkering with his model railroad, refinishing furniture to perfection, hand-carving and painting model airplanes, and gardening. In his later years he assisted with several refurbishing projects at St. Ann’s Cathedral. He enjoyed congregated with a few of his best buddies (Wade Hodges, Paul Janetski, Al Teft, and Russ Walden) over morning coffee Monday – Friday each week. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Hilda Wieck. He is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Virginia H. Wieck; siblings MJ Thirkhill, Greg (Claudette) Wieck, Carol Routon, Francele Gorman and Steven (Joanne) Wieck; children Susan C. Wieck of Salt Lake City, Michael J Wieck of Ellensburg, WA, David J. Wieck (Kathleen) of Bellevue, WA, Joseph P. Wieck of Helena, MT, Thomas E. Wieck of Great Falls, MT, Julia M. Hardy (Dunbar) of Boulder, CO, and Elizabeth M. Chargois of Great Falls, MT; and the following loving grandchildren, Hayden, Courtney, Danielle, Soren, Isaiah, Matthew, Hale, Sterling, and Kira.
