Cleon D Minks

Cleon Duane Minks, 84, of Cascade passed away peacefully on April 20, 2016 at Benefis West in Great Falls. A celebration of life will be held on April 23, 2016 at 2:00 at Wedsworth Hall in Cascade, MT. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. Cleon was born on April 5, 1932 in Milaca, MN to Charles and Gladys (Mycue) Minks. He graduated from Milaca High School in 1949. He was united in marriage to Doris Lamprecht on March 19, 1954. Together they raised their five children. They purchased the family farm south of Milaca, MN. Besides farming fulltime, he also worked at Hoffman Engineering in Anoka, MN. In 1973, Cleon and Doris divorced. Cleon followed his dreams and his heart and moved to Montana as this was known as “God’s Country” to him. In 1975, he married Tina Voss. He gained three more sons. To this addition, we became a “blended family.” They settled in Cascade, MT. He worked numerous jobs as a lumberjack and union construction laborer. His greatest pleasures were sitting around a campfire, telling stories, and being the cook. He loved reading, hunting, and seeing Mexico. Cleon is survived by his children, Donna (Jim) Skogquist, Jeff (Linda) Minks, John Minks, Scott Minks, Sallie (Minks) Sueverkruepp all of Princeton, MN, and Joe (Judy) Voss and Del Voss both of Cascade; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister Donna Hartzell of Hackensack, MN; brother-in-law Clarence Kor of White, SD; many nieces, relatives, and friends; and special friend Gene Benner. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Tina; grandson Charlie; brother-in-law John; and son Dwayne Voss. We will always be grateful to Joe and Judy for all the wonderful, loving care they have given to Cleon over the years.
