August 17, 1942 — September 22, 2015

Cynthia W. Quarta, 73, wife, mother, teacher, author, and community supporter/volunteer, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Benefis Peace Hospice of Montana with family and friends by her side. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 409 13th Street South. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home Cynthia was born on August 17, 1942 in Merrill, Wisconsin to Mary and Allen Webster. She lived in many locations in her early years including Great Falls for a time attending grammar school here. In Great Falls, she started taking ice skating classes and was so proud that she got her cousin, Olympian John Misha Petkevich, to join her. Her family finally settled in Lake Forest, IL in the early sixties where she attended Woodlands Academy and Barat College of the Sacred Heart. In Lake Forest, she met and married her husband of forty five years, Joseph Quarta. Together they had their only child Dr. Michelle Vallie. Cindy, husband, and daughter moved to Great Falls in 1970, where she worked in the family business for her aunt and uncle, Dr. F.M. Petkevich and Delphine in the X-Ray Laboratory. She enjoyed everything in life such as being a ballet teacher in her early years, writing, and teaching TaiChi at Paris Gibson Square and The University of Great Falls. Over the years she authored many TaiChi and instructional books for teachers and TaiChi enthusiasts alike. As the president of “Preservation Cascade”, she was very passionate about the restoration and reuse of the historic Tenth Street Bridge in Great Falls. Cindy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph Quarta; daughter Dr. Michelle (Tom) Vallie, and grandchildren Alyssa and Kylor.
