Daniel Joseph Cooper

May 8, 1964 — January 16, 2021

Daniel Joseph Cooper, life-long resident of Great Falls, MT, passed away unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at age 56. Dan was born in Great Falls on May 8, 1964, to Gerald and Billie Jo Cooper. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, West Junior High and CMR High School. He joined the Bricklayers Union and became one of the most skilled and talented masons in the area. He worked as a bricklayer for Cooper Masonry for 40 years. Danny married high school sweetheart, Jenni Dewar and welcomed his first son, Daniel “Craig” Cooper. He later married Sondra Cummerford and was blessed with two more sons, Jason and Tyler Cooper. Danny was a soft, gentle soul, with a big heart and wise-cracking sense of humor. He was a beloved father and grandfather to his three grandchildren. When he wasn’t working, he had his fishing pole with him, ready to explore the waters of Montana. He enjoyed shooting pool, reading magazines, and sipping on his hot tea. Dan is survived by his parents; sons; brothers, Mark (Val), Ron (Deb), Tim (Sandi), John (Julie), and Scott Cooper; sisters, Carmen (Ed Bumgarner) Thorsen and Jeri Lynn (John) Phillips; and significant other, Becky Cantwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra and son, Jason Cooper. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. A memorial service for Danny’s family and close friends will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. There will be a reception following the service at the Beacon Icehouse. Condolences for the family may be shared online at www.OConnorFuneralHome.com.
