David John Komar

David John Komar, 89, of Great Falls, a former carman/welder for the Burlington Northern Railroad, died of natural causes Tuesday, February 6 at a local hospital. Cremation has taken place and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. His memorial service will take place at O’Connor Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 a.m. Survivors include his brother, Leroy Komar of Spokane Valley, WA; five children: Louise Booth of Helena, Barbara Komar, William Komar and Cheryl May all of Great Falls, and Patt Komar of Portland, OR; granddaughters Danielle May and Ginger Rydquist of Great Falls; and six great-grandchildren. David was born September 28, 1928 in Stockett to Anna (Kohut) and John Komar. David attended schools in Great Falls. David married Beth on August 14, 1950. They settled in Tracy where they raised rabbits and pigs which won several ribbons in the State Fair before moving to Great Falls. David participated in a bowling league in the 1960s. He and Beth raised their five children in Tracy and Great Falls. David worked for Burlington Northern for over 40 years, primarily as a railroad carman then welder. Due to work, he transferred for a few years to Havre, but was transferred back, remaining in Great Falls until his retirement. David enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, watching rodeos and working with his model railroad set. David was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Beth; sisters Margaret and Catherine; brothers Raymond and Clifford; and a granddaughter, Misti May.
