With heavy hearts, the family of DeeJay Robinson have bid a final farewell to their beloved husband, father, and best friend. DeeJay passed away on November 7, 2020, at Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls, Montana, due to complications from Covid-19. He was 65 years old. DeeJay was born in Great Falls, Montana to Guy and Theresa Robinson on Easter Sunday, April 10, 1955. He was the fourth-born out of soon to be five children to Guy and Theresa, and they loved him dearly. DeeJay thrived as a young child, establishing great relationships with his brother and three sisters. Family was always a priority in the Robinson household, and even as young children, above anything else, they were asked to put each other first. DeeJay thrived as a young boy and then as a young man, which would carry him all through junior high and high school. Integrity, honesty and kindness were the foundation of which he was raised and helped form the man he was to become. He graduated from Great Falls High school in 1973 and was accepted to the University of Montana where he thoroughly enjoyed the college experience. At a small grocery store, tucked in the small town of Lincoln, DeeJay met the love of his life Marilyn Stewart. By happenstance, the South Dakota native, Marilyn, had a brush with destiny at that grocery store that afternoon. A swirling courtship began shortly after, and before they both knew it, wedding bells were chiming. September 1981 saw the adoring couple exchanging vows and the rest was history. DeeJay and Marilyn Robinson made a life for themselves in Great Falls and had three children of their own. DeeJay and Marilyn were married thirty-nine years, raised a beautiful family of their own, and their love endured for each other until the very end. As time moves forward and goodbyes become so difficult, the love these two had and continue to have for one another perseveres forever. As an active member in his community, DeeJay touched so many lives in numerous ways. With his infectious laugh and joyous spirit, DeeJay would light up any room gracefully. He spent twenty-seven years employed at Benefis Healthcare in the IT department. He formed many relationships during his time there and spoke highly of all that he encountered. DeeJay was continually active in his church (Victory Church) and was a strong man of faith. A very gifted individual, DeeJay had a voice that soothed any soul. He blessed so many with his gift of song, ranging from riveting numbers right down to small tunes he would sing just for a smile. His oasis when not at home was Lincoln, Montana. As soon as the spring birds chirped indicating that winter was nearly over, the itch to get out of the house and up to the cabin was like a fever. Many memories with family and friends were shared up there and will continue to be formed in his honor. He found solace being in the mountains, just him and his beloved Maci (family dog), but he always welcomed big family and friend gatherings filled with plenty of cards, countless laughs, and the occasional project (that seemed to last the entire summer). DeeJay was a people person. His generous spirit, his kind eyes, his infectious personality, and his pure heart will forever impact his community and all those that he loved. DeeJay is survived by his adoring wife, Marilyn Robinson; children, Kelcey Robinson of Portland, OR, Jeren and Caity (Michels) Robinson of Missoula, MT, Jenna Robinson of Great Falls; three sisters, Rhonda (Robinson) and Bob Lehmann of Great Falls, MT, Dionne (Robinson) Swanson of Great Falls, MT, and Carolyn (Robinson) Mulcare of Portland, OR; his favorite sister-in-law, Lyne Robinson of Great Falls, MT; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. His legacy and memory will live on through them all. With the pandemic running its course through our country, as a family, we have elected to postpone the celebration of life for DeeJay. In the best interest of all that would like to celebrate a life well lived, in the proper fashion, we think it best to make sure all those who would like to be present have that opportunity. In lieu of flowers, the family of DeeJay Robinson is asking for donations to causes that were near and dear to his heart. Links to those charities will be listed below. Thank you to all that were a part of DeeJay’s life. He relished all relationships he formed over his years, and each and every one of those held a special place in his heart. Lasting memories and moments will sustain us and continue to impact our lives moving forward. His family asks to share those memories and moments in the comments below. DeeJay lived a meaningful life, a purpose-driven life. His time on earth seemingly was not enough but his Heavenly Father had a better plan. The void he left will never be filled; but rest assured he is rejoicing with those that went before him as one of God’s beloved angels. DeeJay was just that, an angel on earth and we are all better for it. The road moving forward will not be easy, but in true DeeJay fashion, we will press forward with a song in our heart and kindness in our eyes. Love one another as he did. Be the light to those that are surrounded by darkness, as he was. He is forever in our thoughts and hearts. Rest well, DeeJay. We will meet again.
