Dennis S Ahenakew

Dennis Steven Ahenakew, Sr., 71, of Great Falls passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015. A wake service will begin on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 4 pm at the Little Shell Tribal Office on Hill 57. Funeral procession will begin Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10 am at the Little Shell Tribal Office. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Dennis was born on March 13, 1943 in Great Falls to Norval and Victoria Ahenakew. In his younger years, he worked as a laborer, firefighter in the oilfields, and construction. Dennis was also a boxer when he was younger. In 1959 he won the “Most Outstanding Fighter” award. He enjoyed golf, hockey, horse racing, and playing cards. He cherished and loved his children and family. Dennis is survived by his wife, Alfreda Ahenakew; sons Travis Ahenakew, Gordon Ahenakew, Aaron Ahenakew, Dennis Ahenakew Jr., and Cory Ahenakew; daughters Aretha Ahenakew, Ursula Ganuelas, Vanessa Ucles, Nicole Ahenakew, Shannon Ahenakew, and Tiffany Ahenakew; two brothers; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
