Donald R. Schrammeck, 94, formerly of Great Falls passed away peacefully April 7, 2015 in his Kalispell home with his children at his side. Visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 from 5 pm to 7 pm at O’Connor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 2 pm at O’Connor Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to O’Connor Funeral Home. Donald was born July 28, 1920 in Great Falls to Walter and Anna. He enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1942. Lt. Col. Schrammeck became the first Montana Air National Guardsman to retire at the end of 20 years of service in the Air Force and Air National Guard.He flew 4000 hours, with 94 combat missions in P38s during WWII in the SW Pacific and two years of active duty with MANG during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage to Adeline Mora in 1948 and the two remained inseparable until her passing in 1993. Addie was the love of his life, and her shoes were too big to fill, so Don never remarried. In 2009, Don moved to Kalispell to be near family. Don was also employed with the Great Northern Railroad beginning in 1941. He remained there for over forty years until his retirement in 1980. Don is survived by his son, Greg; daughter Jan; and brother Ken; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; brother Paul; and sisters Lois and Nona. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and loud boisterous voice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to donors choice.
