Donna G. Campbell

January 10, 1923 — August 12, 2017

Donna Campbell, a long-time resident of Great Falls, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the age of 94. Donna, daughter of George and Edna Kansier, was born during a Minnesota blizzard on the family farm near Ghent, Minnesota on January 10, 1923; arriving before the horse and buggy that was bringing the family doctor. At the age of three, Donna, her parents and beloved older brother Harold moved to Great Falls, Montana where they settled. For every hardship she suffered as a child —Scarlet Fever, The Great Depression and falling out of a Model T Ford as it round a corner too fast on Central Avenue—Donna had equally happy stories to tell with it. Donna graduated from Great Falls High School in 1941, and volunteered in the War effort, sorting donated nuts and bolts for reuse. She also worked as an usher and candy-counter girl at the Great Falls Civic Center and the Liberty Theater; a wonderful job for her as she loved the movies, especially Gone With The Wind. In the mid forties she began her career in banking eventually becoming the head bank teller for First National. Donna adored dancing and going to the dance hall with her friends. It was there that a friend asked her how much she would pay to go on a blind-date with her brother. Donna answered 25 cents and was introduced to Patrick Campbell who she later married in 1950. Donna moved to Choteau, Montana and several years later to Billings, where they welcomed their only child, and then back to Great Falls. Donna loved to laugh, work in her flower garden, try new recipes, knit, watch movies, shopping and dogs. She cherished her daughter Leslie and they did everything together. When her daughter married, Donna welcomed with open arms and dearly loved her new ‘son’ Doug. And then came Daniel and Shannon, her grandchildren, whom she treasured beyond measure and helped raise while her daughter and husband worked. She and the two grandkids had loads of fun making memories, goofing off, eating countless snacks and even playing video games. She was their ‘partner-in-crime’ and the trio always had some little secret they would giggle about. She loved her family unconditionally and would do anything for them. She had a fabulous sense of humor and a radiant smile; everyone who met her felt how special she was. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie (Campbell) Lineberry; son-in-law Doug Lineberry; grandson Daniel Lineberry; granddaughter Shannon Lineberry; grandson-to-be, Shannon’s fiancé, Blayne Gameon; and her beloved little dog, Aggie. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, George ‘Ted’ and Edna; brother Harold; and her husband of 44 years, Patrick. Forever in our hearts. Thank you Mom and Grandma for all the beautiful memories. We love you.
