Doris Ann DeMichelli Marko, 89, of Great Falls, passed away on October 23, 2019. Cremation has taken place at the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. At her request, no services will take place. She was interred next to her husband at Mount Olivet Columbarium. Doris’ husband of 69 years died May 14, 2019. That event broke her heart, but not anymore. They are now together forever. Doris spent over 40 years working in service to our government. She spent nine years with the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, watching Tiber Reservoir and Canyon Ferry Dam rise from nothing to two gigantic works of man. It also was the time she learned the words “eminent domain” and their sometimes sad meaning depending whether you were giving or having it taken. Thirty one years were spent at Malmstrom Air Force Base working for the Department of Air Force Communications Squadron at the very beginning of all the missile sites being installed throughout Montana. Once again, “eminent domain” struck. Doris received many awards for her dedication and quality of work she accomplished while at Malmstrom. The award she treasured the deepest was presented at her retirement ceremony where the received a U.S. flag that had flown over the air force base and inscribed with “For forty years of service to her country.” After retirement, Doris spent time with her husband raising Polled Herefords and Gelbvieh cattle. Lots of work, 24-7, but still satisfying. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Angeline DeMichelli; sister, Madelyn Goff; brother, Robert DeMichelli; and her beloved niece, Lori Shaheen. Doris is survived by three nephews, Grant (Audrey) Kleckner, Robert (Linda) DeMichelli, and Greg (Pam) DeMichelli.
