Doris L. Smith

Doris L. Porro Smith, 88, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully in her sleep from natural causes on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at a local care facility. A private graveside service is taking place at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home. Doris was born October 31, 1928 to Phillip and Dora Porro in Black Eagle. She was the first of four sisters. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, family camping trips, and especially loved cooking for her family. Her grandchildren affectionately referred their trips to Grandma’s house for dinner as “Going to the Binge-O-Matic.” Nobody ever left the table hungry! Doris retired from St. Peters Hospital of Helena, MT in 1990. She later returned to Great Falls in 2005. Doris is survived by her two sons Richard (Linda) Smith and Robert (Karen) Smith; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three siblings Phyllis Vining and Lois Watson of Great Falls, and Barbara Udall of Missoula. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard C. Smith and her parents. A special thank you goes to the great folks at Benefis Extended Care for their compassionate care over the past few years.
