Douglas Foster George

August 23, 1944 — November 7, 2021

On November 7, 2021, the world lost “One of the Good Ones,” Douglas Foster George. Doug was born August 23, 1944, in Toppenish, Washington to Delmar and Esther George. He lived in numerous locations in the U.S. and France as his family followed his father's career as an Air Force pilot. When his father retired to Great Falls, Doug dug in his heels and refused to leave Montana. After a stint in the Army, Doug began his 44-year career as a Millwright with ConAgra/Cereal Foods. He gave his all to his work, his family, and his friends. Doug married Kalu Russell in 1977. In high school, Doug was known as the "Man with the Golden Ford." Throughout his life, he spent many hours as a backyard mechanic for family and friends. There wasn't a vehicle or car part he couldn't identify or work on. Doug was an avid fan of drag racing, NASCAR, Motown, George Strait, and The Griz. Later in life, he fulfilled a lifetime wish of learning to sail and became an expert. Doug and Kalu enjoyed many summers of sailing on Flathead Lake. Doug was a great cook and grill master like his dad, to the delight of all friends, family, and every dog in a 3-mile radius. He also possessed the same limerick-laced raunchy sense of humor as his dad. Any person or animal who knew or met Doug was a recipient of his endless generosity. Surviving the deep loss of Doug are his loving wife, Kalu; sisters, Bobbe (Calvin) Lance and Beth (Larry) Thorsen; in-laws, Gary and Gloria Davis; a nephew and a niece; and lifelong buddies, John (Ginger) Lawson and Mark (Ruth) Fogt. Rest in peace Doug. With the awakening of Spring, family and friends will fulfill Doug's wishes and gather for food, drink, and a celebration of life’s memories of the best husband, dog father, son, brother, and friend anyone could ask for.
