Durvit Konrad Fuhrmann

Durvit Konrad Fuhrmann, 81, of Great Falls, a retired truck driver and United States Army veteran, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at his residence of natural causes. Services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. Durvit was born May 16, 1931 to Konrad and Lillie Fuhrmann in Baylor, MT. He was educated at North Fuhrmann School in Baylor and obtained his GED in Glasgow before moving on to attend Northern Montana College in Great Falls. He was drafted during the Korean War and was later honorably discharged. In 1958 he was united in marriage to Joyce Flom in Nashua, MT. The first job that Durvit held after he left the farm was working construction on the Fort Peck Dam on the second powerhouse. He moved on to help build runways for Glasgow Air Force Base and Malmstrom Air Force Base. He later spent time as a foreman on a sheep ranch before moving on to truck driving. He drove truck for a combined total of approximately 30 years. He was awarded the “One Million Safe Miles Award” at PFT, the last company he worked for. Durvit also owned and operated his own auto repair shop. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and his pet bird, “Baby.” Durvit is survived by his wife, Joyce Marie (Flom) Fuhrmann of Great Falls; daughters Pamela (Don) Weinmeister of Nashua, and Wendy (Dean) Brandt of Fort Benton; son Konrad (Tammy) Fuhrmann of Great Falls; sister Lorraine Gonsior of Kalispell; brothers Verlin Fuhrmann of Scobey, Archie (Charlene) Fuhrmann of Bremerton, WA, Larry (Karen) Fuhrmann of Nashua, and Terry (Denise) Fuhrmann of St. Marie; grandchildren David (Robin) Weinmeister of Hysham, Nick Weinmeister of Great Falls, Tabitha Lipscomb of Glasgow, Heather (Justin) Field of Bozeman, Heidi Brandt of Bozeman, Tia Fuhrmann of Great Falls, and Kurt Fuhrmann also of Great Falls; and great-grandchildren Ethan, Cora, and Mirax. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Fuhrmann
