Edna Darlene (Falcon) Osborne

August 4, 1937 — November 6, 2019

Our mom, Edna Darlene (Falcon) Osborne, a resident of Missouri River Manor, and a lifelong Montana girl, passed away on November 6, 2019.She was born in Choteau, MT, on August 4, 1937, to Edward and Irene Falcon. She was the oldest of eight kids. She was the last surviving member of her brothers and sisters. Mom had many challenges in life, including the devastating loss of many members of her family in a house fire in 1964, a brother being murdered while in Deer Lodge State Prison, and the loss in recent years of her last surviving sister and brother. Mom lived her early life in Montana, and then joined a convent to become a nun in Kettle Falls, WA, where she remained until her early 30’s. Edna left the convent to take care of her sick mother. She met a cowboy, and although they did not marry, she gave birth to a daughter, Bernice Falcon (Zollner) in 1970.She then married Leroy Dearth and had a son in 1973, also named Leroy Dearth. She married Eddie Osborne and had another son, Howard Osborne, in 1975. Of all the things in her life, mom was proudest of her kids. Mom leaves behind Bernice (Luke) and Patrick Zollner of McQueeney, TX; grandson, Kyhlyer Mahana, of Colorado; son, Leroy (Melissa) Dearth of Great Falls, and their children, Jaxson and Sophie Jo Dearth; and son, Howard and (Sandra) Osborne of Great Falls, and their daughter, Valerie Flores. Family members who recently passed away include brother, Wayne Falcon; sister, Emma Falcon; granddaughter, Marlee Anne Dearth; and nephew, Travis Falcon. Many family members who passed away years ago, include her parents, Edward and Irene; siblings, Robert, Richard, Bernice, Alfred, and Alice. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including the Falcons, Malatares, Lafromboise, and many other branches of our family tree. Mom was a proud member of the Little Shell Band of the Chippewa, which she supported throughout her life (and made sure her kids did too!) A memorial service will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Great Falls Food Bank, in our mom’s honor http://www.greatfallsfoodbank.org/ , Missouri River Manor or Benefis Peace Hospice. If you would like to send flowers there is an account set up at Bloom and Bean https://www.bloomandbeanmt.com/ or (406)-453-0866 ask for Rebecca. Thank you to the staff at Benefis Peace Hospice, who made our mom comfortable for the last days of her life. We would especially like to THANK Missouri River Manor who took care of her for many, many years. She loved getting her hair “did”, having her nails done, and roaming the halls. On her way to the cantina, she loved to harass others. Special thanks to Cherri and all the nursing staff at MRM. We can never truly tell you how much this has meant to us.
