Elizabeth Hope Vandyken

April 1, 1932 — November 12, 2016

Elizabeth Hope VanDyken, 85, of Great Falls, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Peace Hospice. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Living Grace Church, 3525 1st Avenue North. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Cremation is in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home. Hope was born April 1, 1932 in Manhattan MT to James and Elvira Reynolds. She attended nursing school in Great Falls, was a nurse and operated the switchboard and was a receptionist at Columbus Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement. Hope left a lasting impression of love on every person who crossed her path, and would listen without judgement. Every day she lived to serve her Lord and Savior bringing others to know His love and forgiveness. She attended Grace Baptist Church, now Living Grace Church. She volunteered with bread delivery on Wednesdays, cleaned the church and mailed church bulletins to those who missed services weekly. She took an oath with God and her Church to pray and give hope to those she knew well and those she never met in their time of need. Hope loved to write poems for friends and family on special occasions. She enjoyed sewing for her children and dolls, which she collected several of. Hope is survived by her daughters Lisa (Rodney) Irvin of Helena and Lori (Robbert) Simmons of Missouri; son Frank VanDyken of Great Falls; grandchildren Cory (Candy) Irvin, Sharlee, August, Annette (Roy), and James; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death her husband Fred VanDyken; sons Jerry “Buddy” VanDyken, and Fred Daniel (Carolyn) Van Dyken.
