Ella Oblender, 98, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Peace Hospice on Sunday, December 14, 2014. No service per her request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. Ella was born on July 26, 1916 in Mitchell, South Dakota. As a young woman she moved to Montana where she met and married Albert Houck. They resided in Billings and Glendive. She worked for over 15 years as a nurse’s assistant at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings. In 1994, she moved to Great Falls, where she was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and took special interest in visiting and helping folks that were hospitalized or in nursing homes. For 15 years, Ella was a great helping hand at Missouri River Marine where she was a very popular “gopher” for their parts department. Ella is survived by her two sons, Dean (Donna) Houck and Larry (Marva) Houck both of Great Falls; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Albert Houck and Herb Oblender.
