Elsie “Mrs. Elsie” Diane Pfeifle passed away the morning of Monday, February 5, 2018 at the age of 72. Services are pending to be held at a later date. Cremation has been in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home. Elsie was born on March 29, 1945, the youngest of four, in Laurel, MT to Rosie and Robert Metzger. Elsie met the love of her life, Virgil Pfeifle, while babysitting one of her nephews. Elsie and Virgil were happily married for 52 years, having two children of their own, Rebecca and Robert. Elsie proudly fed thousands of children in the Great Falls School District as a food service worker. Elsie was renowned for her exceptional service by her kids and colleagues alike. Elsie got her well-earned break when she retired in 2013, after 39 years of preparing and serving meals with a smile. Elsie loved to spend her free time taking care of her grandchildren, traveling, watching movies, knitting, crocheting, playing word games, and solving puzzles of all kinds. Elsie’s generosity was not limited to her family, but extended to anyone fortunate enough to know her. The absence of Elsie’s never ending hospitality will be a loss felt by many, and not in any way forgotten. Elsie is survived by her husband Virgil; daughter Rebecca and significant other Shawn; son Robert and wife Christine; sister Rose Mary; brother Kenneth and wife Molly; and her grandchildren Tyler, Jack, and Norah. She was preceded in death by her parents Rosie and Robert, and sister Joyce.
