Eva June Andersen, 94, of Simms, died peacefully in her sleep Friday, February 22, 2019. O’Connor Funeral Home has conducted cremation and a springtime memorial service will be held in Simms with date to be determined later. Eva June was born on June 29, 1924, to Roy and Hattie Moore in Arapahoe, Nebraska. The family moved to Simms when Eva June was 2 years old. She graduated from Simms High School in 1942, the class valedictorian. She went on to have a lifetime career in bookkeeping. She was the administrator of the family car dealership, Andersen-Moore Chevrolet, for many years. She later went to work as a bookkeeper in Great Falls for the Buick dealership. She served for decades as a volunteer bookkeeper and fundraiser for the Simms Community Church and the Simms Volunteer Fire Department. Of all her “jobs,” she most enjoyed her work with the Simms Community Church and was a co-founder, organist and pianist. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and baking. She married Emmett Andersen December 25, 1941. They had five children, four boys and one girl. Survivors include Patricia Andersen of Simms; Vernon (Bonnie) Andersen of Bynum; Vic (Jane) Andersen of Simms; Jack (Gloria) Andersen of Deer Lodge; and Nadine (Bob) Rusk of Missoula; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Eva June was preceded in death by her husband Emmett in 2003; sister Bernice Thompson; eldest son Dennis Andersen; and grandson Lee Emmett Andersen. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Simms Community Church.
