December 8, 1936 — May 28, 2021

Frank Ford Ghee, Jr. of Great Falls, passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2021, from complications associated with cancer. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at O’Connor Memorial Chapel (2425 8th Avenue North, Great Falls, MT 59401), followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. also at O’Connor with interment at Highland Cemetery immediately thereafter. Frank never met a stranger and was known to light up a room with his smile. He never turned away from someone in need. Achieving the rank of SMSGT in the US Air Force, he traveled to San Antonio and Abilene, Texas, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Greenland, Korea, and the Azores. He completed his career at Malmstrom, AFB in Great Falls, where he retired in 1986, after 27 years of service. Never wanting to remain idle, he continued to travel and participated in volunteer organizations including, the Great Falls Rescue Mission and the Veterans Ride Free Program. He proudly drove bus for Hall Transit and Great Falls Transit. He was an active member of the Union Bethel AME Church, VFW, DAV, as well as OES and Prince Hall Masonic fraternities. He was a lover of all things musical. He valued singing, playing the guitar, and especially enjoyed gospel quartet music. Born to Frank F. Ghee, Sr., and Julia (Bagley) Ghee in Kenbridge Virginia, Frank was the eldest son, and the third of 9 children. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth (Lloyd); his only son, Howard; and two of his siblings, Bertha Crowder and William H. Ghee. He is survived by his daughters, Francina “Crickett” Clayton, Genise “Candy” Ghee, Melony Ghee Griffith, and Frankie Valinda Ghee; son-in-law, David A. Clayton; his siblings, Mary Elizabeth Wilson, Jessie Elkey, John L. Ghee, Mae Rosa Ghee, Mildred Honablew, and James Nathan Ghee; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, and innumerable sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, and grandchildren of his heart. Frank will be sorely missed by all who knew him, but we celebrate his life and his home-going. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Union Bethel AME Church, (916 5th Avenue South, Great Falls, MT 59405) or the Great Falls Rescue Mission, (408 8th Avenue South Great Falls, MT 59405).
