Frank Edward Mcquire

Frank Edward McQuire, 74, a retired banker, of Scottsdale, AZ and formerly Great Falls, MT, passed away August 20, 2017 due to complications from pneumonia in St. James Hospital in Butte, MT. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with the viewing starting at 1:00 p.m. Interment will occur at a later date, at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home. Frank was born January 2, 1943 in Great Falls, MT to Joseph McQuire and Rozella McQuire. He was born and raised in Great Falls, MT along with brothers Joseph (Dick) McQuire and Kenneth (Bud) McQuire and Harold Anderson, as well as sister Patricia (Patty) Mills. He attended Great Falls High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at College of Great Falls, in 1971. Frank married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn McDowell, on June 9, 1962 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Great Falls 3 days after her high school graduation. They had three boys, Edward (Eddie) Frank McQuire, Jonathan (Jon) Henry McQuire and David Ray McQuire. After spending a year in Ft. Collins, CO, to pursue a Master’s degree in Mathematics, the family moved to Tempe and later to Scottsdale, AZ so Frank and Carolyn could begin their careers in banking. Frank’s job eventually took the family to California where they continued their careers in the financial industry. Their four grandchildren were all born in California: Christopher Nicholas McQuire, Sean Patrick McQuire, Adam Joseph McQuire and Katie Lynn McQuire. Frank eventually retired and was living in Scottsdale, AZ but spending his summers camping with family in his beloved Montana mountains. Seldom seen without his signature hat and camera, Frank was also an avid poker player, voracious reader and Sudoku enthusiast. When he wasn’t up camping, Frank was happiest in his den, with Carolyn and their dogs. Frank and Carolyn were avid cruisers. Frank and Carolyn had recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary by taking their 34th cruise, with children and grandchildren. Frank is survived by his wife, children, daughter-in-law, Lara McQuire, and grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and close friends Dale Anderson, James (Jim) Clark, Leonard Lukasik and Alden (Bing) Wilson. Frank is also survived by a large, close extended family, including David and Barbara Stepper, Ken and Sue Nakagawa, Carl and Carolina Ellis, Michael and Carol McDowell, Tim and Deb McDowell, Shawn McDowell, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Frank was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister, step-father Gordon Anderson, Aunts Irene Phillips and Lois Doolin, Uncle Frank Fleming, sister-in-law Nancy Kondelik, brother-in-law David McDowell, as well as close friend Doug Bouchee.
