George “Whit” Whitney, 56, of Great Falls, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from a heart condition at his home. At his request, no services will be held. O’Connor’s Funeral Home is handling the final arrangements. George was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 2, 1956. As a small child, his family moved to Montana to be close to relatives. He attended CM Russell High School through 1974. George loved to hunt, fish, and take in all the Montana scenery. He was known to load up his trailer and chainsaws, in order to cut firewood to donate to the neighbors. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Denver Broncos, attending the World of Outlaws Sprinters, and watching the Montana Grizzlies. George is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna; and his daughters Michelle (Jim) Rogers, Melissa (Brandon) Matejovsky, Christin Whitney, and Sarah (Jeramie) Whitney-Fuson. He was known as “Grumpy” by his five grandchildren, Dominic, Sophia, Maxton, Kaden, and Greyson. He is also survived by in-laws Joe and Bev Frankovich, along with other relatives. George was preceded in death by his father, Edward J. Whitney. He will always be loved and dearly missed. “Loves to fly and it shows.”
