Gerald “Shorty” Jerome Korst, 89, of Great Falls passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in the comfort of his home. Funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are being handled by O’Connor Funeral Home. Gerald was born on July 22, 1927, in Bismarck, North Dakota to Joseph and Agnes Korst. He served in the United States Army. He retired from the Anaconda Company as a forklift operator. Gerald married the love of his life, Loretta Ann (Manguso) Korst. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. Gerald loved fishing, camping, hunting, and playing rummy with his family. He was kind, gentle, patient, and the most loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all. Gerald is survived by his wife, Loretta; sons Gerald L. (Beth) Korst, David Korst, and Dale Korst; daughters Sandra (Bob) Scott, Diane (Arnold Entz) Korst, Lorraine Korst, Mary Geer, and Trina (Craig) Rogers; sister Sally (Louis) Manguso; brothers Norbert Korst and Calvin Korst; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Sylvester, Leroy, Everett, and Bernard “Buck”; and son-in-law Thomas Geer.
