Geri Marlene Dess

Geri Marlene Dess, 56, of Havre, an LPN, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 from natural causes at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. Geri was born April 5, 1957 in Lewistown and was raised in Great Falls. She graduated Great Falls High School and earned a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse at MSU. She worked at Park Place Skilled Nursing Facility for 10 years. Geri was united in marriage to Robert G. Sangray in Great Falls in 1975. Together they raised two sons, Jason and Robert, and a daughter, Kelly. They later divorced in 1996. Geri moved to Missoula, where she married Paul Smith in 2000. She worked at Village Health Care until her retirement in 2013. Geri volunteered her time at the Moose Lodge in Missoula. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, and spoiling her grandchildren. Geri is survived by her husband, Paul Smith of Missoula; children Kelly K. Sangray, Jason and Robert Sangray, all of Boise, ID; sisters Carol Owens and April Custer, both of Havre; brothers David and William Dess of Great Falls, Mike and Thomas Dess of Havre, and Wesley Dess of Helena; and grandchildren James and Sienna Sangray. She was preceded in death by her parents, James J. Dess and Rosemary Dess.
