Gladys Viola Hansen, 84, of Belt, MT, passed away at her home of natural causes, October 13, 2012. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10 a.m., at the Belt Community Church. Graveside service will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery near Belt. O’Connor funeral home is handling the arrangements. Gladys was born June 21, 1928 in Hillhead, South Dakota, one of nine children born to Severin and Gurina Bendickson. She attended a rural one room schools through the 8th grade. She married Alfred Hansen April 12, 1945. Although she held numerous jobs outside of the home, her primary occupation was as a mother to her nine children. The family moved to Belt in 1962 and Gladys worked outside of the home as a waitress and most recently as the cook at the Belt Senior Center. She was an avid crocheter and supplied her family, friends and stores with her scrubbies. She enjoyed crafts and made many floral arrangements, embroidered pillowcases and tea towels. Gladys was the mother of nine children two of which, Edwin (2008) and Wayne (1988), and her husband Alfred (2003) preceded her in death. Her surviving children are Harvey (Ginny) of Great Falls, Gary (Denise) of Seattle, David (Deanna) of Washington, Barbara of Colorado, Charlotte (John) of Billings, Jerry (LeAnne) and Craig (Sherri) of Belt. She was the grandmother of 25, great- grandmother of 42 and great –great- grandmother of two. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Belt Community Church benevolence fund, P. O.
