Gladys I. Hjort

Gladys I Hjort, 92, of Plentywood and formerly of Great Falls, passed away March 14, 2014 in Plentywood. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10 am at O’Connor Memorial Chapel with inurnment to follow at Manchester Cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Gladys was born September 14, 1921 to Andrew and Sadie Nelson in New England, ND. On July 23, 1939 she was united in marriage to Richard Hjort. Together they had three children, Terrence, Lysandra, and Lyle. She worked as a clerk for the Forest Service for over 13 years before retiring in 1978. She later volunteered at the Cancer Research Program for five years. Gladys enjoyed sewing and reading. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Lysandra Hjort of Denver, CO; sons Terrence Hjort of Plentywood and Lyle Hjort of Arlington, WA; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hjort (2001); parents Andrew and Sadie Nelson; and sister Inez Rickabaugh. Memorials are suggested to the Gift of Life Housing, P.O.
