Harvey W. LaVerdure, 75, of Great Falls passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Benefis Hospital. Visitation is being held from 1:00 – 5:00 pm Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. Funeral liturgy will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. Harvey was born October 24, 1938 in Lewistown to Ralph and Madeline (Dess) LaVerdure. He attended St. Leo’s Catholic School in Lewistown and enlisted in the Army in 1957. Later, Harvey worked for the Anaconda Company as a smelter worker from 1966 until his retirement in 1980. Harvey loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had a knack for woodcarving and made many family treasures. Harvey was the baseball coach for the North Side Little League for many years and took his team in 1977 to its first ever Western Regional Championship game in California. Harvey is survived by daughters, Carla (Jim) Carrier of Black Eagle, Tammy (Bill) Hill, and Connie LaVerdure, both of Great Falls; son Doug LaVerdure of Great Falls; sister Julie (Vern) Durand; brother Louie (Kathy) LaVerdure; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Jr. and Madeline LaVerdure; son Harvey Joe LaVerdure; sisters, Lucille (Swan) LaVerdure and Katie (LaVerdure) Esterby; and brothers, John, Joe, Ralph and Dan LaVerdure.
