Helen Alene Cascaden passed away December 18, 2014 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls after suffering a stroke November 18th. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Central Christian Church, 1025 Central Ave, in Great Falls. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Helen was the sixth daughter born to Reu and Mauna Loa Carr, in Creston, MT on September 25, 1927. She attended the Creston School thru 8th grade and graduated from Flathead County High School in Kalispell. Helen graduated from Montana State University (now University of Montana) in Missoula in 1949 with a BA in business administration and secondary teaching certificate. She worked as a secretary and librarian to Dean Leaphart at MSU Law School and then she taught school in Hot Springs. She met her future husband, Milton E. Cascaden, at MSU and they moved to Great Falls where they raised three children, Kathy, Rion and LeAnn. Helen worked as a secretary to the ministerial staff of Central Christian Church for 32 years. She was a 4-H member and Leader, Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and Camp Counselor. She and her husband, Milton served as Worthy Matron and Patron of Helen C Roberts Chapter #71 OES 1975-76, where she also was secretary for 5 years. She was a member of Sapphira Temple #79 Pyramid Choir, and a member of Sons of Norway. She always enjoyed working with youth in 4-H, church, Rainbow Girls, and church camps. She loved to sew, cook, garden and play pinochle, Yahtzee and cribbage. Helen is survived by her daughters, Kathleen McIntyre of Hazelgreen, AL and LeAnn (Bill) Budeski of Great Falls ; son Rion (Susan) Cascaden of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Cyndee (Shawn) Posey, Jonathan McIntyre, Robert (Heather) Cascaden, Jon Christoph, LaRue (Judy) Christoph, Kristi (Charlie) Hill, and Kerri (Storm) Norick; great-grandchildren Jessie (Molly), Alexis, Cassie, Chase, Clay, Garrett, Everett, Kinsley, and Easton. Helen loved her family and was preceded in death by her husband, parents and five sisters.
