Helen Monica Law

Helen Monica Law, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 22, 2022.

She was born November 16, 1930, to Jack and Veronica Eva Ehrmantraut. She lived in Dickinson, ND helping on the family farm with her two sisters and brother. Like most farm kids of the time, she attended a one room schoolhouse until high school. She graduated from high school in Dickinson, ND and then began work at a local bank.

She met William “Bill” James Law in Dickinson, and they married in 1950. Bill was a partner with Harold Kapelovitz in K-G Men’s Store in Dickinson. They started their family in 1951 with their first son, followed by two more sons in 1955 and 1959. Bill’s business expanded into Montana so, in 1962, the family moved to Missoula, MT and welcomed their fourth and final son that fall. In 1965, the family moved one last time, settling in Great Falls, MT.

While in Missoula, Bill and Helen became avid golfers. They expanded their new hobby in Great Falls by joining the local Meadowlark Country Club. Helen was very active in the country club helping to organize several tournaments for the woman’s league.

Helen was an amazing and dedicated wife and mother supporting her husband in his business while raising her family. Bill and Helen always made sure to set time aside for their children and grandchildren, eventually setting up an annual family reunion on Flathead Lake in Montana in 1995 that continues to this day.

Finally in 1990, after Bill retired, they could focus on golf and travel. Together they went many places including China, Japan, Spain, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bill. She is survived by her sisters, Alice Rieckman and Joan Lardy; brother, Leo Ehrmantraut; four sons, Bill (Patty Smith), Bob (Clarissa Siburian), Jim (Sandy Hafla), and Jack (Amy Cogswell); nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren with a fifth on the way.

The family thanks the staff at the Grandview Reflections for their constant care and support.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022, at O’Connor Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
