Helen Rosaleen (McKenna) Proctor, 87, of Stanford, passed away Monday, July 30, 2013 at a local hospital. Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, at 10 AM in Stanford with rite of committal to follow at Stanford Cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Helen was born September 14, 1925 in Geyser to Rose and Robert McKenna. She attended schools in Geyser and Stanford before graduation from Holy Rosary High School in Bozeman in 1942. She went on to attend St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing attaining her degree in May of 1948. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Lewistown for a short time. While helping her Aunt feed a harvest crew, she met the love of her life Leon Proctor. The two were united in marriage in 1949 and she became a farm wife. She worked for several years as a teacher’s aide for Stanford Public Schools. Helen was a member of St. Rose of Lima Altar Society for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading, and in her earlier years gardening. Helen is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth (Dan) Noland of Great Falls; son Lennie (Mary Sue) Proctor of Stanford; sister Bea (Ed) McCarthy; brothers Frank (Anna) McKenna, Lyle McKenna, and Maurice (Terri) McKenna; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Proctor (2010); parents Robert and Rose McKenna; sister Ann Therese McKenna; and brother Donald McKenna.
