James “Big Jim” Dennis Davis, 73, of Great Falls, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at his home. Jim was born on February 12, 1944 in Vancouver, WA to Dennis and Marian Davis. He attended school in Great Falls. Later, he met the love of his life, Barbara Koelling. They were married in 1965 and had two children; Tina and Jim Jr. Jim’s biggest passion in life was knowing that he would get to spend every day with his loving wife and family. Their marriage was based on love, respect and dedication to each other. Barb’s devotion to Jim was especially evident as she cared for Jim throughout his illness and rarely left his side. Jim was a man with a down to earth, old school personality. He was passionate about strong family values, having a good work ethic and knowing right from wrong. Jim was a rough and tough working man for most of his life. He worked in the ECR department and as a crane operator at the Anaconda Company for 18 years. He was also a body man for Don Ryan Oldsmobile and Nygard’s Autobody for many years. After retiring from his rough & tough careers he transitioned into his new role as a gentle giant by taking care of his daycare buddies; Jaxon, Jett and Jacob. Jim also enjoyed rebuilding old cars, going for drives, watching old western movies, cooking and growing tomato and pepper plants in the summer. Jim is survived by his wife Barb Davis; daughter Tina Jolly (Ed) of Hamilton; her children: Aaron, Christopher, & Adam Willmarth and Holly McMullen; and her grandchildren Garret, Brendan, Ellie, Aidan, Jozlyn, Kristianna, Charles, Amelia and Jaxon; son Jim Jr. of Great Falls and his children: Justin, Jared, Jace and Jevin; and brothers Donald Davis of Havre and Perry Davis of Great Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents Dennis and Marian and brothers Robert and Dale Davis.
