James Dale “Jim” Maffit, 70, died December 25, 2017 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana. Jim had been struggling with a previously undiagnosed Lewy Body Dementia for many years. This disease became debilitating the summer of 2017 and he was placed in Benefis Hospital for care. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Memorials by those wishing to honor Jim’s life may be made to Benefis Hospital or an organization of their choice. Jim was born March 28, 1947 to Everard and Lorraine Maffit, in Great Falls. Jim attended elementary school in Great Falls and also Great Falls High School. He worked at his grandmother’s farm near Westby, Montana for a number of years, eventually taking over the operation of the farm. After retiring from the farm, he moved back to Great Falls and became a co-owner of the Office Bar. Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle; trap and skeet shooting, biking and walking near the river in Great Falls. He made many friends and treasured each of them. Jim is survived by two brothers, Terry (Margaret) Maffit and Wayne (Sylvia) Maffit; sister Gayle Holman; half-sister Vickie Langevin; two nephews and two nieces; and his dear friend, Nan Andersen, who was with him at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents.
