James Robert Wombold, 79, of Great Falls, died of natural causes on July 28, 2015 at his daughter’s home in Great Falls surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at O’Connor Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 1 p.m. at O’Connor Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary will be held at 12:30 pm prior to the funeral liturgy. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. James was born October 12, 1935 in Malta, Montana to Chris and Mary Wombold. James was a carpenter by trade and began his work as a carpenter at the age of fourteen. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Yelvington, in 1964 and together they raised their family. First and foremost in James’ life was his family. James also took in numerous other children that grew up to be family. James loved baking and woodworking. He also loved fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. James adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them. James loved the Jazz and Grizzlies, and his mood was dependent on their success. James is survived by daughters, Mary (Terri) Birnie of Spokane, WA; Linda McElmeel of Rockford, IL, Judy (John) Adams of Bozeman, Laurie (Mike) Kelleher of Great Falls, and Marcella (Dwight) Dahl of Great Falls; sons Melvin Yelvington, Michael Yelvington, and Mitchell Yelvington all of Great Falls, Matthew (Joan) Yelvington of Joliet, IL, and Dale Wombold of Missoula, MT. Additional survivors include his brothers Charles Wombold of Great Falls, Chris (Karen) Wombold of Cascade, and Lauren (Joanie) Wombold of Havre; 26 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Anne Wombold who died April 27, 2012.
