Janet Obstarczyk Gemar, 75, of Great Falls passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Memorial services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 am, prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are through O’Connor Funeral Home. Janet was born in Great Falls on June 17, 1939 to John and Ellen Obstarczyk. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1957, Janet lived in San Francisco, CA and worked for a variety of medical offices. She returned to Great Falls and married Ed Gemar, October 31, 1972, and farmed in the Sun River area. They divorced in 1993. Janet possessed a great love for her family and enjoyed traveling with her cousins. She was a kind and generous person who helped and supported friends and family at a drop of a hat. Janet always had a joke, her wit, and sense of humor will be dearly missed. Janet was an active member of the Rainbow Garden Club and the Montana Landlords Association. She was involved in local and state politics. She is survived by her aunts Genevieve Quilter, Phyllis Hemstad and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Jack and Jim.
