GREAT FALLS —Janet Alice West, 67, of Sun River was called home by her Lord Jesus on Friday, October 18, 2013. She died of natural causes at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. We will celebrate Janet’s life on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11 am at the Simms Community Church in Simms. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. Janet was born December 10, 1945 in Hamilton, MT to Charles and Mae West. Because her parents moved frequently, Janet was proud of the fact that she attended 12 schools in 12 years. After high school, Janet received her degree from the University of Maryland through the Walter Reid Army Institute of Nursing (WRAIN) Program. She spent 23 years in the United States Army Nurse Corps including a tour in Vietnam. She retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 1994. Janet accomplished many things in her lifetime, but she always felt most fulfilled in her work during the past 15 years as a missionary in Mexico. In 1999 she established MEXICO MISSION, sponsored by Simms Community Church. Lord willing, this work will continue reaching children and their families for Christ for many years to come. Janet is survived by her daughter, Ruby West of Great Falls; brothers Whitney West of Decatur, IN and Clark (Betty) West of Sun River; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mae West; and brothers Dennis West and William West. Memorials may be made to Simms Community Church and designated to Mexico Mission.
