Jerry Roland Lane, 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at home after a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021, at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. Jerry was born in Omaha, NE. The son of Ruth and James Lane. His mother remarried William Rounds who adopted him after his mother’s death. He graduated from Cheyenne High School in Cheyenne, WY in 1952. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1953, to serve his country for 8 years as a seaman. He returned to Cheyenne in 1961 and worked for the Frontier Refinery for 16 years. He moved to Great Falls and eventually purchased Imperial Images Trophy store in 1972. He sold the business in 1979. He was a member of the Great Falls Trap Club where he was president for many years, organizing many shoots. He was also an excellent trap shooter winning many awards. In his formative years he was an amateur bull rider, riding in several rodeos and earning several awards as well. He loved hunting birds and big game. He owned several hunting dogs, and he loved each and every one, taking them on several hunts. Jerry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jane of Great Falls; son, Jed Lane of Cheyenne, WY; 2 stepchildren, Pam Brown of Helena and Jim Alexander of Great Falls; 1 granddaughter, Lindsey Lane Davis of Cheyenne, WY; 2 step-grandchildren, Shannon Brown of Helena and Kody Alexander of Great Falls; 2 great-grandchildren; and 3 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, J.R. Lane.
