James “Jim” Obstarczyk, 67, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2014, after a long battle with MS. Family and friends are invited to a viewing and celebration of Jim’s life 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at O’Connor Funeral Home. There will be a burial at sea at Jim’s request. Jim was born in Great Falls on June 4, 1946 to John and Ellen Obstarczyk. After graduating from Central Catholic High School, Jim joined the Navy. He then worked 20 years for American President Lines as a purser. He sailed around the world three times. He was a kind, gentle and brave person as he met every challenge battling his MS. He is survived by his sister Janet Gemar; aunts Genevieve Quilter and Phyllis Hemstad; and Don Thomas, his longtime caregiver and friend who took such good care of him.
