James “Jim” Renville, 76, passed away at Peace Hospice on April 30, 2014 after a 10 year battle with several types of cancer. A short graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 10 am at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Benton. Jim was a lifelong Montana resident, who worked for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroads for 42 years. He liked all sports, but especially softball and golfing with family. Jim was a city councilman in Fort Benton for several terms and was a board member for the Boy Scouts and the “Gators” swim team. After moving to Great Falls in 1986, he was both a player and the coach for the Calvary softball team. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Debbie, of Great Falls; son Scot (Shawna) of Chester; two grandsons, Seth and Samuel; two “daughters” Gina Rocker of Tucson, AZ and Cecelia Wall of Twin Falls, ID; two sisters, Rose Larsen of Billings and Beverly Southard of East Glacier; many nieces and nephews; and was a “Grandpa” to many kids. Jim was preceded in death by daughter Jodi in 1973 and a sister, Myra, in 1997. Memorials are suggested to the Great Falls Rescue Mission, the Good Neighbor Works, or donor’s choice.
