Joan D. Ostrem

Joan D. Ostrem, 83, of Great Falls, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Peace Hospice. Funeral liturgy will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Fort Shaw. Rosary will be said before the service at 1:45 p.m. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Joan Ostrem was born March 23, 1933 in Belfield, North Dakota to Jacob and Rosa Sticka. When she was four years old the family moved to Sidney, MT. She had five brothers and six sisters. Joan graduated from Sidney High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart Gene E. Ostrem in 1953. They moved from Sidney to Miles City in 1960. In 1962 they moved to Great Falls and then to Fort Shaw in 1964. Joan worked at Sidney Greenhouse after high school. From there she worked with Carpenter Insurance in Sidney, General Adjustment Bureau in Miles City and Great Falls, then to crop hail insurance companies. She retired in 1999. Joan is survived by one sister Monica (Steinbeisser) Zoanni; brother-in-law Jerry (Janice) Ostrem; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene; three babies; five brothers; and five sisters.
