A man who went by many names such as Peter Joe, Alvie Allen and Joe Jackson succumbed to a long battle with cancer in the warmth of his home early Tuesday. A memorial services will be held Saturday, March 1 at 11 am at the Fort Shaw Bible Church. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Joe was born Sept 5th, 1945 to Harold and Ethel Jackson. He joined Harold “Muggs”, Morley, Doreen “Pudge”, and Ruth and later welcomed his partner in crime and younger brother Arthur. Joe was the last of his immediate family to depart this world. He served three years in the army during which time he was stationed in Korea for a time and was a drill SGT. On a Friday Sept 13th 1968, he married his bride for life, Judith Sharpe. He was a beloved father to Shawn and his children Scott and Shane; and daughter Kimberly Hiday and her children Noah and Lila. He had many other family members that he is leaving behind, sister-in-law Kathy and her husband Brent, who was like a brother to him. He claimed he closed as many businesses as he worked at. In his youth he worked road construction, for many years in the AMC smelter and then became a baker at Eddy’s until its closing. He then became the first in his immediate family to acquire a bachelor degree of which he was most proud. Cancer necessitated his early retirement from the Great Falls Pre-release in 2000. He was active and busy until this last year. A great source of pleasure for him was fishing and nature. We will all miss him severely but take comfort knowing he is with his family and smiling down on us.
