John E Swedberg

John Edward Swedberg, 85, of Great Falls and Kalispell, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 10:00 a.m. at O’Connor Memorial Chapel, 2425 8th Avenue North with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. John was born January 3, 1931 in Terry, Montana. He graduated from Flathead High School and was a proud alumni of the University of Montana where he became avid supporter of the Grizzlies. He loved the fall colors at Glacier National Park and spending time at his cabin. After college, John owned and operated the AW for many years before moving to Great Falls where he owned the Village Motor Inn until 1993. He then moved to Kalispell for the next 18 years before returning to Great Falls in 2011. John is survived by his wife, Betty Swedberg; daughters Julie Swedberg and Joni (Mike) Stuber and their mother Gwen Davis; his wife’s children who loved him dearly Brigitte Black, Isabelle (Matt) Carpenter, Dan (Tammy) Toner; and his grandchildren Jordan and Jake Stuber, Matt Duckett, Kara (Dan) Hoffman, Angela Black, Cody and Liam Toner, and Ethan and Sam Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Elizabeth Swedberg, Mary Duckett; and his granddaughter Jessica Black.
